NORTHSIDE OPERA STUDY GROUP
Northside Opera Study Group was started 48 years ago in 1975 by a group of opera lovers on Sydney's north side.
The group has now grown to include people from all over Sydney who attend the weekly meetings.
Whether you are a long term opera enthusiast or a novice who wants to learn more about the subject, everyone is welcome to come and share their interest in music with our friendly group.
Weekly lectures are presented by distinguished artists, musicians and academics. These include music, videos, performances by up and coming singers and an annual concert by students from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Programmes are wide and varied and cover traditional as well as contemporary opera.
The presentations are broken into two one-hour sessions with a half hour break for morning tea (which is provided). This allows plenty of time for discussion, to meet up with friends and to get to know fellow music lovers.
There are two semesters each year. The first semester runs from the beginning of February to mid June.
The second semester runs from mid July to the beginning of December. There are usually about 18 meetings in each semester.
We are currently meeting at the Lindfield Uniting Church in the larger hall upstairs where there is lots of space with the requisite COVID restrictions in place.
