Early German Romatic Opera

On Monday 17 July 2023, Professor Michael Halliwell guided us on a journey discovering early German romantic opera, including works by Carl Maria Von Weber and Heinrich Marschner, with a case study of the little known Marschner and surprisingly beautifyl opera Der Vampyr, written in 1828. It is very possible that the works of these two composers were influential in the compositions of Richard Wagner.
